People choose Alaska fishing vacations for a variety of reasons, but the real draw is undoubtedly incredible fishing amidst the unspoiled frontier landscape. Whether you are planning your first Alaska vacation, or you've been fishing in the state before, it's good to get an idea of what to expect.
The choice for the time of year you travel to Sitka will have much to do with what salmon species you have a preference for. May and June are peak for king salmon, with July beginning the transition period from kings to silver salmon which are peak July - September. Halibut and other bottom species are consistent all season.
At Kingfisher Charters & Lodge, we go out of our way to ensure that every part of your vacation lives up to your expectations, and that you get ample opportunity to enjoy some of the best fishing on the planet. When the fishing is done for the day, we want you to find peace and relaxation in our lodge, away from the worries of the world. We believe that all of this begins and ends with quality service.
From the first time you step into our lodge, our staff is committed to make sure your stay is enjoyable and comfortable. Not only will you enjoy the creature comforts and personal touches of our lodge, but you can expect to be pampered with fine meals and a relaxing atmosphere.
This may come as a surprise to someone that has never experienced our Alaska brand of fishing vacation, but your entire family can enjoy a trip to our lodge even if some in the party don't enjoy fishing. Sitka has a lot to offer, and there is no shortage of fine dining, shopping, and activities. This means that not only will you enjoy world-class Alaska fishing, but you can also enjoy a stroll amongst the totem poles at Sitka National Historic Park or a trip to the Raptor Center.
While the comforts of our fishing lodge are extensive, we understand that our guests are eager for an unforgettable fishing trip. Your day-fishing trips will target both salmon and halibut, and it's common to limit out on both. Our guests also catch quite a few lingcod, black rockfish, shortraker rockfish, and sablefish (if you like Chilean Sea Bass, you'll love sablefish) so you will be able to enjoy the fruits of your fishing "labor" when you arrive back home.
We would love to have you and your fishing group as guests. Our goal is to make your stay as comfortable and rewarding as possible, so if you have any special requests don't hesitate to ask.
